It sits on a bay of the Mediterranean Sea alongside the fringes of the desert in northwest Libya. It is a major commercial and manufacturing city as well as having one of the area’s most important sea ports. The place from where Colonial Gaddafi ruled from, the immense Bab al-Azizia Barracks can be found in the heart of Tripoli.
