Aracaju Airport is also known as Aracaju Santa Maria Airport. It is located within the city, almost dividing the inland city centre and the coastal development regions exactly. The airport was initially built in the 1950s, but it has undergone extensive additions and refurbishments since then and now offers travellers in Brazil a modern domestic airport. There are a number of airlines flying scheduled flights to and from various destinations across the country.
