Caldas Novas is a city in the Goiás state in Brazil. The city is located in a hydro-thermal area and was built after the discovery of the hot water springs in 1777, by the explorers Martinho Doelho and Gustavo Mauricio Silva De Carvalho Alves. These springs were named the Caldas de Piratinga and they gave their name to the city which later developed around them.
The city is also known for its annual carnival and a great many visitors come to the city to be a part of it. Hotels in the city often have heated swimming pools using the naturally hot water from the thermal system.
