Curitiba is an interesting mixture of cultural influences. This is due to the waves of immigrants from Europe in the 1850s. Groups arrived from Germany, Italy, Poland and the Ukraine. All of these cultural influences have led to an eclectic mix of architecture, traditions and history. There were also Portuguese colonists who founded the city.

There are a huge number of interesting attractions and features in and around Curitiba. One of these is an old mansion, which can be found in the Batel neighbourhood, which has a distinctive German feel about it. The city continues to embrace different styles and cultures, as can be seen in Japan Square, a garden dedicated to the Japanese settlers who came to the city and dedicated themselves to improving the agriculture in the area.
