Duque de Caxias is a city located in the south east of Brazil in the Rio de Janeiro state. Duque de Caxias also borders the city of Rio de Janeiro to the south. The city was named after the Duke of Caxias as he was born there in 1803. The city itself, however, has been in existence on this site since the 16th century.
The city has great public transport to get you around the city including a number of bus companies, a Metro and a mainline railway service. These can easily get you around the city and even further afield to the city of Rio de Janeiro, but if you want a little more flexibility you can hire a car.
