Located in the department of Haute- Corse, Ile Rousse is a commune on the Corsica Island in France. In the Haute- Corse department, Ile Rousse is one of the two departments to have a French name. The other one is Saint Florent.
Pasquale Paoli found this commune in the year 1758 with the intention to not let it go into the hands of the Genoese, the way they had taken over the commune of Calvi.
