Gueret is a commune and the prefecture of the Creuse department located in the Limousin region in central France. Gueret is a small industrial town with immense woods and some farming not distant from the town centre. Courtille Lake in a leisure area south of Gueret is a man-made lake beside a dappled path. With a perimeter of around 3 km, it is employed for leisure and sports. Chabrieres forest is big and extends south of the town and comprises a Zoo. The 17th-century chateau of Sainte Feyrer established on the bases of a castle from the middle ages of which there are few remnants. The Museum of the Senatorerie was partially constructed in 18th-century and functioned as the mansion of senators under Napoleon. The Hotel de Moneyroux, of Gothic style was built in the 15th century and currently the headquarters of the General Council of the Creuse.
