Itzehoe is a town located in Schleswig-Holstein state. As the capital of Steinburg district, Itzehoe is situated on the Stor, a traversable affluent of the Elbe. The church of St Lawrence dating back the 12th century and the building in which the Holstein estates previously adjoined are notable. Itzehoe has a community established in 1256, a hospital, number of schools and other charitable institutions. The town is an active commercial place and is the oldest town in Holstein. Its core was a castle, one of Charlemagne's courts versus the Danes. Itzehoe is named as a fort depot of the earlier Infanteriedivision 225 which was entailed in 1940 Vinkt Massacre in Belgium. The town is the site of the Wenzel Hablik Museum.
