Bari is a coastal town in the south east of Italy in the Apulia region. It is known for being both a port city and also a university city. There are four distinct sections of the city to explore. The first is in the north of the city and is home to the old town. It sits on the peninsula bordered on each side by modern harbours. It has a wealth of ancient buildings there dating back to the 11th century. The south of the city is the heart of the modern city and has pedestrianized promenades and also houses the large shopping district of the city. The rest of the city is a hotch potch of residential development that occurred during the 60s and 70s. The city is an ideal place to rent a car, which can be done through VIP cars, as it has great road connectivity.
