Saronno is a small town in northern Italy in the Varese Province. It is famous for its amaretti biscuits and is also a successful manufacturing town. The downtown area of Saronno has pretty streets lined with old buildings and is highlighted with the Madonna dei Miracoli pilgrimage church. It was begun in 1498 and took over 20 years to complete. The walls are decorated with beautiful frescos by Ferrari and Luini. Saronno has great rail and road links both to Italian cities Monza and Milan and also to the Swiss border, which lies a short distance to the north of the town. Saronno is a lovely place to stay with a peaceful atmosphere, but in order to head to Milan it is easiest to rent a car from VIP Cars and take the A4 straight from the town into the city in order to explore and shop.
