Hakata is city located in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture. Hakata is renowned as the location of Fukuoka's primary train station, Hakata Station. The city also houses the Fukuoka Prefectural office. Hakata is one of the ancient cities in Japan and in medieval period. Hakata was the conventional center for the manufacturing of Hakata ningyo which are traditional Japanese dolls renowned all over Japan. Hakata is the place of the pop group HKT48. The city is also home of Mentai Rock. Famous festivals of the city are - Hakata Gion Yamakasa held from July 1-15 and Hakata Dontaku Mintao Matsuri held from May 3 and 4.
