Nouadhibou, formerly known as Port Etienne, is a major commercial city in Mauritania. It is also the country’s second largest city. It is only a few kilometres away from the border between Mauritania and Western Sahara. The port of Nouadhibou is the world’s largest ship graveyard, with over 300 ships out of service there. Monk seals swim about in the waters.
