Loreto is a city on the Baja peninsula. The town, founded in 1679, was the first Spanish settlement on the Baja. The city is small and mostly serves as a tourist resort town. Dorado, also called Mahi-Mahi is a popular fish in the area, and many restaurants will happily prepare visitors daily catch for them.Events are held throughout the year to celebrate various aspects of the city’s culture. Some of these festivities include the city’s founding, the city’s patron saint’s day, a couple of sporting tournaments and a couple off-road racing events.
