Covilhã is a city in the municipality by the same name in the Castelo Branco district of the Cova de Beira sub-region. This town is located in the vicinity of the Estrela de Serra Mountains which offer great scenery and ample opportunities for camping, hiking, mountain climbing and skiing. This city has traditionally been a center of the wool and textile industry in the region and is still one of the largest woolen fabric producers in Europe.

Covilhã is a charming town mostly known for its natural scenery and its proximity of Portugal's only ski resort in the town of Seia called the Vodafone Ski Resort. Penhas de Saúde is a winter resort located in the Covilhã municipality and a part of the Estrela de Serra National Park. Other prominent landmarks here are the City Hall, the Santa Maria Church and the ruins of a medieval castle.
