Figueira da Foz, also known simply as Figueira, is a city and municipality in the Coimbra district of Portugal. A coastal city, Figueira is known for its many beaches and many historical landmarks. This city is also an important industrial center, producing wood pulp, paper, and glass. It also has notable naval construction and fishery industries in it.
Figueira da Foz has several beaches one can visit along with a seaside promenade paved in typical Portuguese Pavement style. The Sotto Mayor Palace, the Municipal Museum, and the Santa Katarina Fort are a few prominent landmarks here. The fishing village of Buarcos has now been transformed into an important beach resort and contains beautiful sandy beaches along with an old Fortress and the Relógio Tower. The Casino da Figueira is an important landmark here and is one of the biggest casino's in the Iberian peninsula.
