Peso Da Regua usuallyrecognized as Regua is a municipality located in northern Portugal in the district of Vila Real. Peso Da Regua was recognized for over two centuries as the Capital of the Upper Douro due to its role as the 1st capital of the delimitated port-producing region. While the focus for quality port wines has moved to Pinhao, half an hour further east, Regua is yet a popular stop. There are just two streets of note- the riverfront avenue with the boat quay and the long town main street which goes parallel, one block inland. On the erstwhile is the Museu do Douro which tells the history of the river and its people rather than just go over the port wine story. For this you require the Solar do Vinho do Porto, put up in a converted warehouse on the main street.
