Pombal is a town located in Pombal Municipality, Leiria District in Central Region, Portugal. Pombal is surrounded to the north by the municipalities of Figueira da Foz and Soure, east by Alvaiazere and Ansiao the Southeast by Ourem the Southwest for Oeste and Leiria has a bare of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Pombal was established by Don Gualdim Parents, Grand Master of the Knights Templar. On July 13, 1976 was established the Amateur Theatre de Pombal who since then has played asignificant cultural role in the county. The Pombal castle sits on a modest wooded hill looking across the town of Pombal.
