Kobarid is located in the Upper Soča Valley in the west of Slovenia and close to the Italian border. The town itself is small and picturesque and lies at the junction of historic crossroads. There is evidence to indicate that there have been people living here since the Iron Age, but the event that will be forever etched upon the town was in World War I when the Austrian and German troops broke though the front line. The Kobarid Museum documents the history of the town.

If you want to get out and about, hire a car through VIP cars in order to make your way to one of the outdoor pursuits locations. Here you can do some rafting and kayaking, or if you wish to stay dry you can mountain bike, hike or even paraglide. For some quiet time you can also indulge in a spot of fly-fishing.
