El Hierro Airport is located northeast of Valverde and is only airport on the island of El Hierro which is a part of the Canary Islands in Spain. Its official name is Aeropuerto de los Cangrejos and it was officially inaugurated in 1972. Despite being small and having limited number of flights, it became the fastest growing airport in 2007.
