Doncaster’s Wheatley Hall has a very grand history, having been a splendid and grand home. A beautiful and elegant stone mansion once stood in the grounds, and that building gave its name to the present day area. It sat near to the River Don, and was four stories high with excellent masonry and many detailed windows. Next to this glorious residential home were some gorgeous grounds, with fine and tall oak trees. This area became to be known as Wheatley Park. Sadly, the once magnificent Jacobean mansion was demolished in the 1930s. Today, there is a major retail park in the area, with many companies having shops and premises there.
