Huddersfield is a large market town in the area of Kirklees, in England’s West Yorkshire. It is almost halfway between Leeds and Manchester. The nearest city is Bradford.
It is near the confluence of the River Colne and the River Holme. Huddersfield is known for its role in the Industrial Revolution, for being the birthplace of former Prime Minister Harold Wilson and for being where rugby league started. There is a great deal of Victorian architecture in the town. The Victoria Tower at Castle Hill is a prominent landmark. Looking over the town, it was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's 60th Jubilee Year. The tower features on the label of New Zealand wine Castle Hill.
