Lancing is a village in the English county of West Sussex. It sits on the western edges of the Adur Valley. It is often said to be the largest village in England. Historically, it was a popular place for people to take seaside vacations. Today, it does not see so many tourists as in the past. There are still a few good guesthouses in the village, and they are mainly concentrated along the A259 coastal road. The landscape is a mix of rural chalk down land, coastal areas, and urban dwellings. There is a shingle beach which has long stretches of clean sands when the tide is low. Amongst nature lovers across the world, the brackish lagoon of Widewater is a fascinating spot, and the only known location of the Ivell’s sea anemone. Interestingly, the world’s oldest continually serving airport is also nearby.
