Middlesbrough is a large town in the English county of North Yorkshire. It is situated on the south bank of the River Tees. Many parts of the town were demolished in heavy bombing during the World Wars. Middlesbrough's oldest domestic building is Acklam Hall. The Restoration mansion is an interesting document of varying trends in English architecture. The Transporter Bridge spans the River Tees and is an interesting sight. The Tees Newport Bridge is another landmark bridge. The Town Hall is an impressive building as is the Empire Palace of Varieties.
