Bodmin is an area within Devon. It is near to the large city of Plymouth, and is known for being the home of the probably mythical creature of the Beast of Bodmin. The famous beast is said to roam the Bodmin Moors, with people occasionally reporting mutilated and killed livestock.Bodmin is twinned with Bederkesa in Germany, Grass Valley in California and Le Relecq-Kerhuon in France. There are several nice old churches in the town. Other places of interest include Bodmin Gaol, which guarded the Crown Jewels during World War 1, the Shire Hall, which today houses the tourist information centre, the Berry Tower, old military barracks, the asylum, and the scenic Bodmin Beacon Local Nature Reserve from which you can enjoy nice views over the area.
