Horseheads is a town located in Chemung County, New York. The name of the town is come from the numerous bleached horses' skulls discovered there. There is also a village called Horseheads in the town. Around 1787, the first settlers cameestablishing the town one of the first in the county to be populated. Horseheads town was constituted from the Towns of Chemung and Elmira in 1835. The former Chemung Canal passed across the town.
