Rocky Mount is a city located in Edgecombe and Nash counties in the coastal plain of North Carolina. Rocky Mount is the main city of the Rocky Mount, North Carolina area which includes all of both Edgecombe and Nash counties. Rocky Mount is also a region of a Combined Statistical Area which includes both Rocky Mount and Wilson metropolitan areas. The city runs the Children's Museum and Science Center, Maria V. Howard Arts Center, and a Community Theater at the Imperial Centre for Arts and Sciences. Lately, the city also recreated the Douglas Block situated in Rocky Mount Downtown.The Rocky Mount Mills Historic Mill Village is located close to Rocky Mount's Tar River anddeveloped in the late 19th and early 20th century as a smallcommunity of occupants working for the mill.
