Olkusz is located in the south of Poland, on the Baba River. Olkusz is part of the Lesser Poland Vovoidership since 1999. There is a fable going around on how Olkusz started; that it was formed by ancient Phoenicians who traveled in Olkusz and discovered lead ore. There is a place called Bydlin; it was usually called a “forgotten” town because only few people knew that it was a village. It was owned by the Mecinsky family in the 18th century. There were cinemas, school, water system in the old town, but today, it is already deserted. You can still visit the old town; you can see several brick walls around and the history that it has left.
