São Brás de Alportel is a municipality in the Faro district of the Algarve region in Portugal. This town has been settled since the Roman times and was a popular retreat for the Bishops of Algarve. This town is settled in the hills and is known for its pleasant climate. São Brás de Alportel is also an important center for cork manufacturing and is one of the largest cork producers in Europe.
The Episcopal Palace was the former summer retreat for the Bishops of the Algarve region and constitute a main building with a baroque fountain. Igreja de Matriz and the chapel of Senhor dos Passos are the other main landmarks here. This town is also known for its easter festival, Festa das Tochas, when the streets are adorned with flowers and a procession carrying 'torches' made of flowers moves through the town center.
