Within the castle walls, a royal palace with Gothic galleries was built in the late 15th century. Igreja de São Pedro and the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Pena are two prominent churches located here. The beaches of Leiria are also popular and one also can enjoy outdoor activities such as camping here.
