Ronaldsway Airport is also known as the Isle of Man Airport. In the local Manx language it is called Purt Aer Vannin. It is 7 kilometres outside of the island capital of Douglas, and is near to Castle town. It is a major gateway to the charming idyllic island, and operates scheduled services to the mainland United Kingdom, Ireland and the Channel Islands. Airport expansions in 1936 led to the discovery of a mass grave, thought to contain the remains of soldiers who died in the 1275 Battle of Ronaldsway.
