The largest town located on the Gulf of Carpentaria coast that of the Cape York Peninsula of Queensland, Weipa is Cape York Peninsula’s largest community.
The credit to the town’s existence goes to the large amount of bauxite deposits present along its coast. This is the sole reason why Port of Weipa, thrives in bauxite export.
