Itajai is a Brazilian city located in Santa Catarina state. Itajai is situated in the Lower Valley of Rio Itajai, the coast and the Atlantic Ocean. Itajai hosts one of the major festivals of Brazilian popular music. The festival is take place every October and draws together musicians and artists from throughout the country. The Port of Itajai is the chief port of Santa Catarina and the 2nd major in Brazil in terms of the movement of containers. Itajai has several beautiful beaches; amongst them are the Jeremias, Molhes, Morcego, Cabecudas, Solidao, and Praia Brava. The city also has plenteous rural areas and a attractive natural landscape with a robust heritage of German and Portuguese immigrants. Itajai is served by Ministro Victor Konder International Airport situated in the neighbouring municipality of Navegantes.
