Salamina is a town located on the Salamis Island of Greece. The island of Salamis is part of the Saronic Gulf Islands and is located 16 kilometers west off the coast of Athens. This island is connected by car ferries and is frequented by beach-goers due to the tranquil azure waters of the Salamis Bay. This city and its surrounding island serve as a quick getaway for many Athenians and outsiders. Asides from the beach, the many attractions located in this island include the Faneromeni Monastery, which is revered by many Marian devotees. The hill where the monastery is built also offers a great panoramic view of the strait of Megara.
