The island of Thassos or Thasos is situated near the coast of Thrace in the northern Aegean Sea. The northern-most island of Greece, Thasos is relatively less visited and as such is less crowded than other Greek tourist spots. The capital and largest city of this island is also called Thasos and is located on the northwest corner of the mainland.
Skala Prinos is a blue flag beach located here and is known for its several kilometers long length and clean sandy beach. Other popular beaches include Pachis, Rachoni, Glyadi, Skala Potamia, Giola, and Saliara, with some of them having camping sites, bars and restaurants on them. Other popular attractions in Thasos include the Archangel Michael’s Monastery, Saint Pantelemoin’s Monastery, and the Archeological Museum of Thasos. Krambousa Isle across the coast of Skala Potamia can also be visited.
