Palermo Railway Station is situated in the middle of town, in Julius Caesar square. It is a fairly large, multi-floor facility with 10 passenger platforms. The station is on two main lines: Messina-Palermo and Palermo-Trapani.It isalso a stop along the Palermo-Catania and Palermo-Agrigento lines. There are many levels to this grand station, but only the main track level floor is for public use. The terminal is smoke free. The public area includes a self-service restaurant and McDonalds. For shops, there are a couple of small convenient stores. Other services that provide for comfort of users are a waiting area, a left luggage area, ticketing desks and a tourist information desk. Restaurants and hotels ranging from discount to classy and boutique are easily found in this city.
