Marsala is a town on the western tip of Sicily. It’s famous for the wine bearing the region’s name and as the landing point of Garibaldi, who united the various Italian regions into a single country. The salt ponds of the Stagnone Lagoon marine region are another notable feature of Masala. Modern Masala is built on the site of an early Carthagian settlement.
The town features attractions of three distinct purposes: Religious, Civic and Military. All three of these features display evidence of earl occupations and history of the city. In addition to the diversity of styles and dates, there is also some Muslim as well as Christian architecture.

Of course, the most famous attraction of Marsala is the excellent wine of the same name. Wine production started in large scale in the 1770s and continues to this day.
