Hastings is a town in the English county of East Sussex. It is located on the south coast of England, and is perhaps most well known for being the site of the Battle of Hastings during the Norman conquest of England. It has some very good beaches and facilities for those wanting to spend time at the seaside. There are several yearly festivals in the town, with the largest being the May Day bank holiday weekend with its big Maydayrun. There is a smaller Beer and Music Festival, chess events and a chess competition. There are four museums and two theatres to enjoy, as well as numerous parks. Local attractions include Hastings Castle, the pier, St Clements Cave, Marine Court and several churches.
