Achim is a municipality and the major town located in Verdan district in Lower Saxony, Germany. Achim is located on the locality of the Weser around 17 km northwest of Verdan and around 16 km southeast of Bremen. The town rests in a valley of the Wesser. The area adjoining the town is mainly upland in its natural state. A train station has subsisted in the town since 1847. The town rests on the track amongst Bremen and Hannover. The Christian missionaries set up a baptismal church in the town in the 12th century; it was the herald of St. Laurentinus Church in Achim, constructed in 1257.
