Directions to Reach Chiang Rai Airport in Your Rental Car from Downtown or vice versa
Note that, the airport is well connected by two major roads namely Phahonyothin Road and Vhiangburapha Road, and Chiang Rai is 8.1 km from the airport. However, for the car hire return if you are going to approach the airport from Chiang Rai Downtown, then you can reach the airport using three routes given as under:

Take Rattana-Ket road number 1, and follow it through the Baan-Ku sub-district, drive for around 8 kilometers. Keep an eye for the airport signboard, turn left to get into the Chiang Rai Airport.

Take the Tha-Na-Rai road (Vi-Set Vieng) from Chiang Rai Downtown area followed by Sing-Kri road. After driving for about 1-kilometer take a slight left to Sa-Ha-Mit road number 1 and turn left at Vieng-Bu-Ra-Pa Soi 1 (route 5023) and move toward Lob-Vieng sub-district, continue on the road for about 4 kilometers, keep an eye out for Chiang Rai Airport signboard on your right-hand side.

Take the Tha-Na-Rai road (Vi-Set Vieng) and turn left towards route number 1, follow the road for 2 kilometers then turn right to Baan-Fang-Min road. Continue following the road, when you reach the junction, take the road to Vieng-Bu-Ra-Pa (route 5023) which means you need to take a left. Drive for around 3 more kilometers and you will reach the airport.
