At the beach

Around the town
A nice substitute for the beach is the Valkenburg Lake which has free parking for your car and dining facilities. Also a steam train ride is available around the surrounding area covering the Steam Train Museum which is said to have the largest original narrow-gauge collections in Europe.
You can also disappear into the woods which are less than ten minutes drive from Katwijk. The Panbos are perfect for a long walk and even for playing around. The best part is that these wooded dunes have something for every season. There is a deer park, a goat meadow, a duck pond and a chicken coop apart from a tearoom and a pancake restaurant.
For shopping freaks the along the Princestraat ,Voorstraat and Badstraat there are plenty of options and by car they are within an arm’s length.
