Bratislava Downtown is where much of the history of Slovakia’s capital city lies. Old Town is at the heart of the city and is the location of many of the medieval buildings that formed the basis for the city.
Bratislava Downtown is also a place where you can find palaces built in the baroque style. One of these is the Grassalkovich Palace. It is currently the residence of the president of Slovakia and it dates back to 1760.
Other attractions you can go and see include Bratislava Castle. It sits imposingly above the Danube river and the site has been occupied since the Stone Age. The castle has undergone many changes during its life including complete restoration from ruins after a fire in 1811.
