Located in the South African Province of Northern Cape, Uprington is a town that was found way back in the late eighteenth century. The town is located by the Orange River which is not only the source of domestic water, but also for agriculture and commercialism like export.
The town boasts of the historical mission station which is now replaced by the Kalahari Orange Museum. This museum is famous for the famous donkey statue. This is a sign of gratitude towards the animal which has played a major role during the development of this town in the nineteenth century. The area is the only industrialized area near the Augrabies Falls. Due to the rich flood plains of the Orange River, grapes are cultivated. Fine quality wine is made from the Orange River Wine Cellars which is in turn exported to Europe and the USA.
