Balingen city is located in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Balingen is the county seat and the 2nd major city of the Zollernalb district. The city is home to the Bizerba and Ideal companies. Balingen was ruined by a fire in 1809 from which just the castle, the Protestant church, and some other edifices survived. The structure of Protestant church was completed in 1541 and has a typical sundial in the apse.
Zollernschloss is a major landmark of the city. There is a neighboring old tanners' district which is also named as 'Little Venice'. The city has many museums such as the Friedrich-corner Fields Gallery, a museum of scales and weights, and a local history museum. The yearly Metal festival Bang Your Head on the Balingen tracts has got international fame.
