Caltanissetta is the capital city of the Caltanissetta Province and occupies an inland position in the central western area of Sicily. The town is located in an area of Sicily enjoying rolling hills and is surrounded by a number of small towns and villages. The origins of the town dates back to the invasion of Admiral Nicia of Carthage in 406 BC. The fort built by Nicia stood for many years but there is little to see of today. There are some incredibly intricately built buildings and monuments, in particular the San Sebastiano and the Triton Fountain. If you wish to explore the city completely, you can hire a car from VIP Cars and then go looking for sites such as the Castle of Pietrarossa, the Red Stone Castle, which stands out on the edge of the city next to a ravine.
