Oristano is both a town in central western Sardinia and also a province. It lies in the northern section of the Campidano plain. The town has a strong tourist industry along with fishing, agriculture and other small industries. There are some interesting sights in Oristano, one of which is the Tower of the Piazza Mannu with a pretty radial pattern of coloured stones emanating out from its base. There are other towers of note as well, including the Tower of St. Christophoros, also known by the name Tower of Mariano II, dating from 1290. There are also plenty of churches and St. Mary’s Cathedral offering more examples of the town’s architecture. If you wish to see more of the area, you can car rental services offered by VIP Cars and travel to the coast or further inland to see one of the National Parks or some of the mountain peaks.
