Ciudad Obregon is a key agricultural centre in Mexico. It is the capital city of Sonora state. Unlike many Mexican cities which date to the 1500s, Ciudad Obregon is a young state, at just over 100 years old. The culture of this city is modern and contemporary.If you are interested in the various aboriginal tribes of Mexico, the nearby Yaquis museum just outside of Ciudad Obregon will be a worthwhile stop. This museum educates people about the Yaquis tribe, which lived close by. Culture of the area is further preserved by the Centre for Popular Culture, an education and exhibition centre and the Rosalva art gallery. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the fishing in the area, especially for largemouth bass, the local fishing tournament is a major draw for avid sports fishermen each year.
