Koege is a seaport on the coast of KoegeBugt, 39 km southwest of Copenhagen and is strategically situated in the metropolitan area of the city. There are many preserved structures in the sight having maintained their historical architecture: one of these is the Koege Museum situated at a former merchant’s house built in 1619 in Norregade. Another original half-timbered house which was put up in 1527 is the oldest edifice in the whole Nordic region, also within the area and the town hall is the oldest building in Denmark dating back to 1552. Koege is home to many famous art pieces kept at the KOS, Museum of Art in the Public Realm which houses the original model for The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen.
