Pantelleria is the site of a settlement dating back over 30,000 years. After a period, where the original settlers of Iberian of Ibero-Ligurian origin, were segregated from most of Europe, the Carthagians conquered the area. Rome had intermittent control over the area, where it served as a place to which high ranking family members were exiled. Today, Pantelleria is a quiet town a bit of the main roads, but a perfect place for people wanting to escape the crowded tourist areas. The remains of early settlers, including a Bronze Age village are the main attractions in Pantelleria. Additionally local geysers are interesting geologic features of the area. A small lake called Lo specchio di venere is a quiet place. It is hard to find, but worth it.In and around the region of Pantelleria, you will find many things to see and do.
