Araraquara is a city in Brazil in the state of São Paulo in the south eastern area of the country. The city was originally founded in 1817 and has gradually grown to become an important academic city in Brazil. The meaning of the city name is believed to come from the local Tupi-Guarani language and either means 'Home of the Macaws’ or 'Home of the Sun’, both of which are very apt for this city. The colourful macaws live in the rainforest around the city and the location is famed for the impressive sunsets caused by the high levels of humidity in the summer.
There are plenty of things to see within the city, but you can also use it as a base to then head out to the other cities in the region. You can hire a car here through VIP cars in order to make your travelling easier.
