Feira de Santanacan be found in the Brazilian state of Bahia. The city lies to the north west of the state capital of Salvador and on maps and aerial photos the city can easily be identified by its almost perfectly circular ring road. Originally the city sat completely within this circular boundary, which is now the Rod. BR-324, but as the city continues to prosper it has expanded beyond this geometrical boundary.

The city originally developed as a stopping point for traders and travellers in the region, but over time it developed its own commercial industries and began to attract permanent residents. The city is still an important hub for a number of highways, which join up with the ring road.
